Administrative Analyst Trainee 1

For appointment to a Administrative Analyst Trainee 1, you must have:

  • A bachelor's or higher degree.
Administrative Analyst Trainee 2

For appointment to an Administrative Analyst Trainee 2, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience conducting management and organizational studies to review and revise procedures for new or changing programs, review organizational performance, conduct data analysis, and develop internal controls.
Senior Administrative Analyst 1 

For appointment to the Senior Administrative Analyst 1 (SG-18), you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience conducting management and organizational studies to review and revise procedures for new or changing programs, review organizational performance, conduct data analysis, and develop internal controls.

Competitive Minimum Qualifications:


You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1, 52.6, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.

For a 70.1 transfer to a Senior Administrative Analyst 1, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above, SG-14 or above for a Trainee 2, SG-12 or above for a Trainee 1, depending on qualifications.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

Depending on qualifications, you may be required to serve a 1 or 2-year traineeship that leads to the full level SG-18 position.

Traineeship salary information:

The position may be filled at the Administrative Analyst Trainee 1 equated to SG-14 ($53,764), Administrative Analyst Trainee 2 equated to SG-16 ($59,994), or full performance Senior Administrative Analyst SG-18 ($66,951) based on the candidate’s education, experience, and previous state service. Salary is nonnegotiable. 

Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Senior Administrative Analyst SG-18 following successful completion of the traineeship.  

Duties

Employee will act as Personnel Liaison for the Bureau, as well as Agency Security, Employee Data, and Credit Card Program Administrator. General office support include, but are not limited to monitoring and managing mailboxes, providing assistance with projects, and other miscellaneous tasks as they occur. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with MS Excel and Word and has the ability to learn new computer applications.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with diverse people on varying levels, both within an Agency as well as outside organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to think and work independently as well as learn new skills and to adjust to change.
  • Ability to assess a problem or situation and provide logical solutions as well as make fact-based decisions with little supervision.
  • Ability to stay focused on work and complete assignments in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Experience or strong knowledge

Telecommuting

The Office of the New York State Comptroller supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, new employees will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
